Ascension is a captivating puzzle game created for the 2024 Game Jam organized by Game Makers Iceland. In this mystical adventure, players follow the guiding light of the stars across an endless astral sea, unraveling celestial mysteries and ascending to the cosmos. Developed using Unreal Engine, this project was a collaborative effort emphasizing creativity, teamwork, and innovative game mechanics.

My contribution

As a programmer, my main role was contributing to the creation of core systems and gameplay mechanics. Including:

  • Developing the ship steering system, ensuring smooth and responsive navigation through the astral sea.
  • Implementing the pickup system to allow players to interact with in-game elements.
  • Designing and coding intricate puzzle mechanics, including interactions with orbs and obelisks.
  • Collaborating with the team to ensure seamless integration of features and adherence to the game's artistic vision.
The game won first place at the 2024 Game Jam and was well received by players at the event.
